Woodlands and Hedgerows

Purpose

This module considers the role of spatial planning, as well as associated amenity and management concerns, with respect to woodlands and hedgerows (other than protected trees and woodlands which are considered in a separate module).

Benefits

Woods and hedgerows present important aspects of amenity and as such the planning system includes provision for protection of such areas providing certain criteria are met. It also includes encouragement of further planting where appropriate, in order to enhance amenity and biodiversity.

Urban and regional planners and all those wishing to build and assess their knowledge of the topic.

A knowledge builder on a planning topic of interest to most in society which provides detailed coverage of some of the issues which relate to the management of the countryside.
