Regional Plans

Purpose

Regional planning is of obvious relevance to land use planning as a whole because it now makes up an increased proportion of land use planning activity, and because it makes vital inputs to the preparation of plans for local areas that will determine whether individual schemes and proposals are allowed to go ahead.

Benefits

It is now essential – for Members of Parliament, civil servants, elected local authority members, professional planners, other professionals concerned with land use, those in private sector business, private interest groups and individuals amongst the public – to understand a stream of activity that will have far reaching influences on their fields of activity and interest.

Audience

Urban and regional planners and all those wishing to build and assess their knowledge of the topic.

Learning method

A detailed overview of regional planning and an understanding of its central role in recently introduced reforms of the land use planning system. Additionally a comprehensive range of relevant websites is provided for those who wish to become expert in the subject. Includes voluntary self assessment for recording continuous professional development (CPD).
