Noise Pollution
Purpose
This module will inform its audience of the way in which the planning system can address the issue of noise pollution in terms of relevant policy, guidance, and practice.
Benefits
Noise issues appear to be playing an increasingly important role within planning decisions as a result for instance of the increasing redevelopment of brownfield sites for residential use, an increasing emphasis on higher residential densities and mixed-use development, and the increasing development of noise-generating infrastructure such as wind turbines.
Audience
This module is primarily aimed at planning and related professionals working in the public or private sectors whose work involves the consideration of development and/or policy with implications for noise pollution, including for instance those working in development planning or development management/control.
Learning method
A knowledge builder on a topic of significant public interest. It provides a fact file of useful information, background and context with a detailed range of additional sources of information from the web. Also a comprehensive range of further reading is provided for those who wish to become expert in the subject. Includes voluntary self assessment for recording continuous professional development (CPD).
