Fish Farming
Purpose
Fish farms and fish farming are of direct relevance to planners and planning authorities as they can only operate when they satisfy a wide range of interlocking planning rules and regulations. These have to be slotted together and cover everything from health and safety through disease control and animal welfare to environmental impact.
Benefits
Fish farming involves a multitude of planning requirements. Despite the apparent complexities of planning applications for fish farming, such enterprises may be looked at favourably as they will provide jobs – even if only in limited numbers – often in areas where jobs are scarce.
Audience
Urban and regional planners and all those wishing to build and assess their knowledge of the topic.
Learning method
A knowledge builder on a planning topic of increasing relevance. This module provides detailed coverage of the issues which relate to the farming of fish. Additionally a comprehensive range of further reading is provided for those who wish to become expert in the subject. Includes voluntary self assessment for recording continuous professional development (CPD).
