Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)
Purpose
This module explains the origins and operation of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and their contribution to the achievement of objectives related to spatial planning.
Benefits
While BIDs concern mainly aspects of management and service delivery, they also have the potential to contribute to broad regeneration aims, enhancement of amenity, improvement of the public realm, and a pattern of land uses that reinforces the role of town and city centres. BIDs therefore have the potential to contribute to a wide range of spatial planning aims including for instance place-making and sustainable development
