Agricultural Dwellings and Occupancy Conditions
Purpose
This module covers new dwellings for agricultural workers – one of the most controversial areas of planning. It is also one of the most complex, requiring at minimum, considerable supporting evidence gathered over a number of years.
Benefits
Agricultural restructuring and diversification have led to proposals for dwellings associated with a wide range of ‘non-traditional’ farming practices such as snail farming, vineyards and mushroom farms. The growth in demand for agricultural workers dwellings has also been driven, in part, by the increasing problems of affordability in rural areas.
Audience
Urban and regional planners and all those wishing to build and assess their knowledge of the topic.
Learning method
A vexatious and topical subject and one covered in some detail in this knowledge builder. Additionally a range of further reading and appropriate websites is provided for those who wish to become expert in the subject. Includes voluntary self assessment for recording continuous professional development (CPD).
