Sustainable development
Sustainable development is now at the heart of all planning decisions. The UK Sustainable Development Strategy was launched in March 2005, and like the recent changes to the planning system, it places community engagement at its heart. In developing its most recent statement on the potential for planning activity to deliver sustainable development, the RTPI highlighted the need for improving social capacity for participation in development decision-making.
